Description

This ride starts at an altitude of 1389m in the village of St. Jakob in the Defereggental Valley. The tough 43km route through a region referred to as the "Tibet of East Tirol" is well worth it, though. Riders enjoy magnificent views and fantastic vantage points to stop and take in the surroundings. The ride climbs 890 vertical metres and includes gravel and tarmac sections.

The Oberhauser Zirbenwald Culture Trail is a great way to discover more about the largest pine tree forest in the Eastern Alps. Nine information boards along the trail inform hikers about local flora and fauna, the forest’s ecosystem and what life is like up on high mountain pastures. The Culture Trail starts at the Alpengasthof Oberhaus.

The Jagdhausalm at 2009m altitude is among the oldest mountain settlements in Austria and comprises 15 stone houses and one church.
