Avalanche Bulletin - 25.04.2024

Weak layers in the upper part of the snowpack represent the main danger. More loose snow avalanches are possible.

At the interface between the old snow surface and the new snow of the past week, occasionally a faceted weak layer developed. This applies above approximately 2200 m. The old snowpack will be stable.
Weak layers in the upper part of the snowpack can be released in isolated cases by winter sport participants. Caution is to be exercised in particular on very steep shady slopes between approximately 2200 and 2800 m, as well as on very steep sunny slopes above approximately 2200 m. In the south the avalanche prone locations are more prevalent. Mostly avalanches are medium-sized. The avalanche prone locations are difficult to recognise.

In addition further small to medium-sized loose snow avalanches are possible. This applies in steep rocky terrain in all aspects, in the event of prolonged bright spells especially.

Individual gliding avalanches are possible. This applies on steep grassy slopes below approximately 2600 m. Areas with glide cracks are to be avoided.

Tendency

The danger of wet avalanches will increase. Weak layers in the upper part of the snowpack necessitate caution.

Before you leave the pistes, it is absolutely mandatory to thoroughly study the information PDF containing the report on the current avalanche warnings. The avalanche warning provides extensive information on the current snow situation, current avalanche risk and detailed information on other danger zones that free riders and ski tourers must know about.
