Bus:

Bicycles (including e-bikes) may be carried free of charge in the passenger compartment of VVT buses, provided that the designated parking space is free. The passenger must ensure that the bicycle is secured. However, the transport of a bicycle cannot be guaranteed due to the volume of passengers: It is at the discretion of the vehicle driver.

Train:

You can take your bike on most local and long-distance trains. In Austria, you need a special bike ticket at 10% of the ÖBB full fare (but at least € 2.00) of the 2nd class for the journey.

On long-distance trains (Railjet, Railjet Xpress, Intercity, Eurocity, Schnellzug/D-Zug, ICE, Nightjet), you must reserve a seat for your bike. The reservation costs € 3.00 online and via the ÖBB App. You pay € 3.50 at the ÖBB Customer Service under +43 (0)5 1717 and at the ÖBB ticket counters.

On local trains, ÖBB will gladly take your bike if there are enough free spaces. In these trains, you cannot reserve a place for your bike.

If you do not want to transport your bike on the train yourself, you can comfortably pick it up from home with the door-to-door luggage service and have it transported within Austria.
